Appearance: A tall Englishman of intense blue eyes, broad shoulders, long graying hair, a pale complexion tanned from years of travel, and a bearing more kingly than vagabond. Gaunt and wolf-like of build and visage, scars from Turkish whips and Spanish racks still cross his back and wrists. Other than brown gloves and white shirt Kane wears all-black Puritan apparel consisting of an overcoat, pants, Cordovan leather boots, cape, and the traditional sugarloaf hat married to a wide-brimmed slouch hat. Rapier, dirk, and pistols are strapped to his belt while the Staff Of Solomon is slung on his back. He also carries a bag with which to house supplies such as food and spare shot.

Personality: A knight in stern Puritan clothes. Solomon Kane is a man defined by his love of good and hatred of evil. His only goals in life are to protect the innocent and smite the guilty no matter their shape or size. Apart from whispered rumors of a wish for redemption, he has no complex motivation for doing so; he crushes evil men and monsters believing that God has made him a sword of deliverance. Grim, chivalrous, prayerful (a tad preachy but never proselytizing), free of all vice except wanderlust, and not normally given to cursing unless very angry. Gentle to and protective of the weak and helpless, Kane is naturally vengeful on their behalf. To see them oppressed sends a red blaze of fury surging through his body and only retribution can quench that blaze. He has been known to take years of his life pursuing a single target who has wronged people he barely knew.

Abilities/Strengths: Despite his lean build, Kane's physical strength has been compared to steel and knotted oak. "Devon's King Of Swords" (as dubbed by Sir Francis Drake) is also one of the finest fencers of his time, with many foes both natural and supernatural having fallen before his skill with the blade. A master marksman, Kane wields his pistols and musket with pinpoint accuracy.

Decades of travel in nearly every corner of the world has blessed Kane with practical skills in survival, tracking, and navigation. Interaction with other cultures has made him fluent in French, Arabic, and the dialect of African river tribes. He is also knowledgeable in 16th century military tactics from participating in the French wars of religion and several naval battles against the Spanish.

Constant exposure to the Staff Of Solomon has also left Kane with a heightened awareness of supernatural goings-on. In recent years his boundless faith in God has allowed him to empower otherwise normal weapons with divine force, giving their wielder a fighting chance against ungodly monsters.

Weapons: A Spanish rapier, a dirk, a musket, and two long-barreled flintlock pistols. All enhanced with blessed silver following several scrapes with the undead. Kane also carries the Staff Of Solomon, a dark relic of an Elder World that existed untold millenia before ours. Carved of wood no longer found on our Earth, this cat-headed staff was once wielded by the Biblical King Solomon to drive back and seal ancient evils. Though even Kane does not fully comprehend the potential of this weapon, he can brandish it to ward off and destroy supernatural threats. Sharp-tipped and hard as iron, the Staff Of Solomon also serves Kane as a stick-type conventional weapon.

And yet when all these fail Kane his greatest weapon remains his courage, fuelled by his unshakeable faith in God. That faith (as well as faith in himself as an executor of His will) has prevented Kane from falling completely into the clutches of panic and despair, even when facing mind-rending otherworldly terrors. It has also given him the power to prevail against overwhelming odds that would crush a normal man. An extreme example was when he wrestled a ghost with his bare hands.

Weaknesses: Kane's zeal is a double-edged sword. Just as it has let him tackle the odds so has it also been his undoing. He has been known to risk capture (even his very life) to rescue a pagan slave girl or a weak animal, often with unsavory results. This is nevertheless a risk Kane continues to take, thus endangering himself even more. Another fault of his is to assume that all men are essentially good people until proven otherwise.

Though looser in his religious outlook on life than most Puritans, it is still difficult for him to grasp certain concepts such as "gray areas" and "neccessary evils". This is a shortcoming he is slowly confronting though; when he was given the Staff Of Solomon he was convinced that he had damned himself to the fires of Hell before he eventually accepted the dark artifact as a weapon of light.

On that note Solomon is uneasy around dark creatures and practicioners of the dark arts. His natural tendency is to see them all as spawns of evil worthy of purging, and though tolerating them if neccessary, will express mistrust around them. Another comparatively minor dislike of his is for Arabs and Spaniards, both under whom he suffered torture as slave and Inquisition victim respectively.

On physical matters, age is not kind to the wanderer. Slowly but surely do the ravages of time and countless battles weigh on Solomon Kane's body, thus hampering him in his war. As he is now, he is most certainly not quite as strong as he had been in his prime.

History: The wandering Puritan known as Solomon Kane was born and raised in 16th century Devon, England. He started his adventurer's life as crewman in a merchant ship. Into his adult years he came to take on various stints as a captain in the French army, an explorer under Sir Francis Drake, a colonizer with Sir Richard Grenville, a slave on a Turkish galley, a privateer, and even a prisoner of the Spanish Inquisition.

In between these points in his life Solomon Kane restlessly wandered much of the world, propelled by his love of travel and belief that evil in all its forms invited God's retribution. His early foes ran the human gamut from pirates to slavers to savage remnants of Atlantean civilization. In time he came to fight the inhuman as well, triumphing over vampires in Africa, ghosts in England, and Elder beasts from before time's dawn. He came to be known as a champion of good, making his mark in many lands by defending the weak and innocent. Africa in particular was one land he would return to many times, and it was in the Dark Continent that he gained ownership of the Staff Of Solomon. This strange artifact aided Kane greatly and soldified his role as defender of mankind from greater dark forces.

At some point in the early 17th century, a world-weary Solomon Kane returned to his native Devon. Reflecting on his adventures, the aging Puritan warrior decided the time was nigh for retirement. But barely had he committed to living out his remaining years in his beloved hometown when something in the night wind appealed to his unquenchable wanderlust. Against the protests of his townsmen, Kane left the tavern to embrace the call of yet another adventure. Little did he know he had actually felt the searching sweep of the Consulo. It wasn't long before Kane's signal was locked onto.

And pulled across the multiverse to help bring righteous rage upon the Entropi...
